I have a plan...! But I need you all to help (all who read this journal, anyways)
Let me first, however, provide a little background on the subject matter. "Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in the US and is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women age forty to fifty-nine. It is second only to lung cancer as a cause of cancer deaths in women.
Breast cancer accounts for one of every three cancer diagnosis in women. About 211,240 cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women this year and over 40,000 this year will die.
There are over two million breast cancer survivors alive today in the US and the number of deaths due to breast cancer seems to be declining. A combination of earlier detection and more effective treatments is thought to be responsible for declining death rates.
About 1,690 cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in men this year, and about 460 men will for from breast cancer.
[And many cases are not reported]."
Now, I do not mean at all to make anyone paranoid of getting this disease, but you should fear it, in the same way Christians fear God. Maybe that's a bad comparison, but it makes sense to me
There is, of course, hope. The Susan B Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation is one of the biggest reasons the rate of death in women is declining. Annually, this foundation hosts a monumental race in my area (and I'm sure yours, too, just not at the same time) during September, when they charge people to run all around the city with people honking horns and everything. It really is a beautiful sight. Every year since 7th grade, I have raced or intended to race, this year being no exception; however, this year should be different for me.
Before I continue, there is something you need to know about the race. At the registration tables, there are pieces of pink paper that say "In Celebration of..." to applaud the survivors of this terrible disease, and "In Memory of..." to commemorate the victims. On these pieces of paper, names are placed accordingly and the papers are worn by the runners (or walkers, in some cases
Now, what I plan on doing is racing like in years past, but covered in these pink pieces of paper with names on them. If you know somebody who has survived or succumbed to this disease, PLEASE NOTE ME WITH THEIR NAMES unless I have already spoken to you. I do not want to stop, however, at just breast cancer. I want to reach out to all cancer survivors/victims; give me their names too (and perferrably the type of cancer) in your note.
Next, I need you to help spread the word. Link people to this journal as often as possible; I want to be shrouded in pink. If there are simply too many pink slips to sucessfully run in, I know I can get a friend to do so with me. Help spread the word!
Help those with this nasty, horrible disease survive.
Help save a life
I will, (doubtless) have pictures taken. In these pictures, I will list all those for whom I'm running.
WOMEN: Read this! If you wear a bra for too long, it may be a contributor to breast cancer!

"Women should be aware that women who wear bras are likely to develop breast cancer. Wearing a bra for more than 12 hours a day is a significant risk. Bras actually damage the breast and as that damage builds up over time, breast cancer can develop."
Thank you *Alfred-Cynig for the great research

I had a scare less than a year ago...found a lump...the whole 9 yards...mommogram and all..luckily..it turned out to be scar tissue from an old accident..ironically though...they say the scar tissue will make it that much harder to find if I DO get it.
